Suck N Blow Monte

I did a little work on the car today. I found out that my alternator mounts were smaller than a 87 turbo altinator, causing the brackets from the A/C compressor to the alternator not to fit. View attachment 78461 So I cut the small leg off the bracket and rewelded it to the long leg. I ground down my welds and repainted it. You can't tell I did anything. I did not have a long metric bolt for the top Mount hole on the alternator. So I drilled it out and put a helicoil insert for a 5/16 thread in it. I made a small stud to go through it to bolt my bracket and support bar to. Surprisingly my new belt even fits. Here is a picture of the acessories all bolted up.View attachment 78462 That is it for now.
Lookin' good, man! Making the fabrication look factory is half the fun for me.

Here is a picture of my Nova. It was my father's car. When he passed away I got it. I have put a lot of my own money and time in this car. It just is not what I really want and kind of got burnt-out on it. View attachment 78734 View attachment 78735 427 punched and stroked. Full roller engine, stud girdles, big Merlin heads. Don't let the cheap crome fool you, it will run. Little too much for the street, but cool if you like that kind of thing.
That's a pretty car. Even if its not your cup of tea, it's cool that you still have your dad's car and is worth just keeping and preserving.

Or lend it to me and I'll run it. 😉

Thank you for the compliments. That car is my dad 100%. I keep thinking about regearing it and changing the stall converter out to make it more street frendly. If I can't get my Monte back together this spring I may take it to a few car shows. My wife told me to only work on one car at a time. So Monte first. I have too many projects. 77 Highboy dually, 80 ford lifted truck, 70 Nova, my brothers 72 Prostreet Vega, skidsteer engine, my Monte Carlo, and other non car projects. I am focused on my car and my new skidsteer right now. You want to see a expensive engine to rebuild, you should see how much money I have in my CNH four cylinder diesel engine.

You probably could drive it better than me. When it hooks (not very often ) it kind of scares me a little. I have not even fill the Nitrous tank yet and sprayed it. That is what the engine was built for. 700 horsepower with out nitrous is a lot to handle.

That is flywheel horsepower not at the wheels. I have Dino papers to prove it. 580 horsepower at 5500 rpm. The Dino did not go any higher, but the engine peeks at closer to 10000 rpm. Ok enough of that, back to my car. I did get my intercooler, and scoop mounted tonight.

I know it doesn't sound like much, but I had to wait until I put my turbo drain pipe gasket in first. I had to repair some mounting threads on the cooler. I put helicoils in all mounting holes. Now it takes all standard thread bolts not metric. It drives me crazy how half the bolts are metric and the other half are standard. I usually never have the metric bolt I need. I am going to finish the A/C stuff next. That is it for now.

85 Regal with a '70 engine, I feel your pain.

The Monte is coming along nicely! Every little bit gets you closer to the finish!

I really like the Nova! and I think it's great that it was your dads, and that you've still got it.
Thank you. I am getting closer to getting it together and getting closer to being broke! I still have some pretty expensive parts to buy yet.

I have been working on my A/C stuff lately. I have run into a problem getting my old orfice tube out. I can rotate it a little but can not get it out. I found that the line is crimped. Now what do I have to do? Any one run into this? Any ideas?
