I posted a help thread and that is the same thing others have said. Thank you guys! I knew you would not let me down.I think the line is crimped to stop the orifice tube from going all the way in. Last one I did was tight, too. I just kept working it with needle nose until it came free.
Thank you. Xbody? Do you mean (a) g body? I have a Grand National 8.5 rearend in my car right now. It worked better with my old setup than the 2:73 gears that were in it before. The 3:42 made the car a lot peppier and built boost faster. With the new setup I will be making a lot more torque and boost will come on sooner, so this will be a learning curve. With the 350 turbo transmission a 3:08 gear would be better. I have a built 350 turbo transmission ready to go in when I burn the factory one up, but I do plan on building a overdrive transmission down the road.Digging the blow thru setup, strong work! That is a pretty sweet Xbody even though they aren't my thing. Put some soft gears in it like 3.08 or even 2.73s to leverage that mountain of torque into real usable speed. I've found that to be far more enjoyable than steep gears.
Thank you for the kind words! As for a Nova you want the 72 or older, the 73, and 74 have the big dumb aluminum bumpers.I just read through your entire thread. I love your Monte. I'd love to have an '80 Monte myself. Your turbo V6 is gonna be cool. It looks like you're figuring out all of the little changes you need to make. It should be a fun car when you're done. Overdrive would be a great addition down the road.
That Nova is beautiful. I always wanted a '68-'74 Nova. I agree with Turbolq4, put a higher gear in that Nova and drive it more comfortably on the street.
It sounds like you've got a lot of cool projects. I know what you mean about diesels being expensive to build. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turbo Monte turns out.
I got you now. I thought the Nova was an a body. The problems I see with a gear set that high is. 3500 stall would be way to high. The engine is designed to run 10000 rpm. I think the big carburetor would want to load up. Would be working the returnless fuel pump too much. I think a 3:50 gear would be good, and a 2500 stall converter. I would be running around 3000 rpm down the highway. A nother option would be a Gearvender over drive, but then again I don't know how that would work with the stall converter and carb.I was referring to the Nova (Xbody). Mid 3.xx gears for your v6 turbo car are great. The huge power big block Nova doesn't need them and is more fun IMO with a lower numerically (higher) gearset when used on the street anyway.
