Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

Tynan918, this thread has been one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point during any of your rambling, incoherent responses have you said anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having seen it.
Never said I knew any of this to begin with...

Ain't no such thing as a stupid question and asking questions is how anyone gets to know things...

You think where you are now, you were just born with the knowledge you or anyone else have ?

Me neither... I had to learn by questions, trial, and error, like any other aspect in life anyone else goes through...

You guys really should really get of your pedestals...lol..

If you don't want to help or give useful advice to those with less knowledge, then don't... But belittling and discouraging them shows real character...and it speaks volumes.

There are plenty of others who have been extremely helpful not only here in this thread, but also in the other posts I have posted, not only here but in other online forums and Facebook groups... 🤷🏾‍♂...unfollow the thread.

But belittling and discouraging them shows real character
Refusing to grow up and do what is right for your child shows real immaturity and irresponsibility. We've tried to give you sound advice and you've chucked it to the side and continued on your merry, ignorant way.

I think maybe you missed the context of Joe's post. The clue was in my following post.

I seem to remember in one of your other threads you were wanting to build an engine from scratch, no? Why not stop now, fix the oil leak, and get this thing back on the road? Try not to be so concerned with solving the mystery of your Frankenmotor and build one how you want. Then a transmission. Then a rearend. If this is your only transportation, wouldn't you like to keep it on the road with as little downtime as possible?

I agree w/this statement overall but....

We have been trying to help. I can only clarify for myself but I feel 'we' is correct. As a group, it seems when we provided solid recommendations/advice, the parameters change to suit your 'wants' versus your originally stated 'needs'. I have no issue w/that. You want to tear into it & put a new cam in? Go for it. But this all started w/fixing an oil leak because it was excessive & verifying the timing chain wasn't junk.

Nothing ground-breaking here. I know now that I was guilty of this on more than one occasion when younger. I still needed the help. The older me would like to go back in time to listen more. It's all part of the growing experience I guess.

This is what I thought the goal was as well. I have been advising & making suggestions/comments based on this goal mentioned (get it running reliably & then build a known bullet for the future). It is frustrating when things keep changing as we go. Initially there wasn't enough money for things now we have enough for a cam, springs, retainers, & a dbl roller timing chain (that I really don't think is needed/warranted for this app based on the video).

Look guys, I appreciate the concerns, I really do...

But trust me, I'm not trying to build a super race motor or car, just a step up from stock... and if I didn't think I could handle what I'm tackling, I wouldn't even have asked...

My rear end and transmission are fine...

Were you literally not just posting about how this is your only mode of transportation and you have a newborn child that is/was in the NICU? Do you seriously think a 40 year old Monte Carlo that barely runs is a safe way to transport a newborn child? And not only that but now you are going to unnecessarily tear apart your only mode of transportation to make it "a step up from stock"?

If having some concern for a newborn child that was born to a f*cking moron makes me a Karen I guess I'm okay with that.

JFC... grow up.

Last thing I need to remove before the new timing chain and other tools gets here this coming week... The crankshaft gear... Which I have a 3 jaw puller for...

Is there a reason you're replacing the crankshaft gear? The cam sprockets are usually replaced because they were originally nylon & wear or teeth break off. Not so much on the crank gear. As long as they're not fubar'd, we've re-used them.
