Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

Keyword "Had" a newborn in NICU...meaning she isn't in NICU anymore and well taken care of...so we can keep my child out of the discussion.
Do you seriously think a 40 year old Monte Carlo that barely runs is a safe way to transport a newborn child?
That's why I'm fixing it...
And not only that but now you are going to unnecessarily tear apart your only mode of transportation to make it "a step up from stock"?
Yes...necessarily take it apart to make it knowingly reliable...
If having some concern for a newborn child that was born to a f*cking moron makes me a Karen I guess I'm okay with that.
This is a G-Body enthusiast forum... But like I said, thank you for your concern, but also when i say "I'm OK" or "My child is OK" then thats exactly what I mean and the discussion is dead and gone...

The fact that you won't leave it alone after that, makes you a Karen...

No need to explain my personal details to validate that with you, my child is fine, end of that discussion.

Is there a reason you're replacing the crankshaft gear? The cam sprockets are usually replaced because they were originally nylon & wear or teeth break off. Not so much on the crank gear. As long as they're not fubar'd, we've re-used them.
Swapping because the new timing set is a double roller and comes with a new one...

Hope it works out for you. Send my regards to Bubbles and Julian.

This thread has been most entertaining. It's like a good book you can't put down. I've learned a lot.
Now I know if I have a leak on my only mode of transportation that I need to fix ASAP so I can get a job, I'm gonna consider doing a bunch of unnecessary stuff that has nothing to do with the original issue, and against the advice of those I'm seeking it from, instead of fix the leak and move forward with employment.
I'm anxiously awaiting for the next chapter.
My hat's off to Scoti and some of you others in trying to keep Tynan918 focused.

Wow what a thread lol. It's happened to many of us the " I'll just do this too" when working on something and it could derail the whole thing, the cam check unessessary at this point just get back to fixing the leak and back to driving it for now then plan for performance upgrades then you know what you got in it
This.

It's a 305. Get it running & build an actual bullet separately.

Glad your hooked...😎

But seeing your ride in your profile pic, your right, it would be useless replace anything on yours...it's looks to be running fine to me, and I'm sure you've put in alot of "useless" work on it, to get it there, which I'm sure is what you wanted...right ? 💁🏾‍♂

Yea I haven't ultimately made the decision to do a cam swap just yet, I won't even really have the money to buy the cam and lifter kit until the 10th of this month or maybe even after...

But then again, it's really nothing to swap the cam where I'm at now...just remove my intake and rocker arms to swap out the lifters, and the cam is already accessible with the timing chain removed... Throw everything back together and boom...

Like I said, not an ultimate decision yet, but I am considering it and I will ask about the procedure and expect helpful advice specifically regarding procedure I'm asking about... not if I'm in the position in life to do it... that's for me to ask and answer to myself.

All I need to know is what it takes, and it honestly isn't alot...

Yea I considered that too, just get this one running and buy a rebuild 350 or bigger to put the extras on and drop in this car...

And rebuild the 305 with extras for when I can afford an El Camino to drop it in...
