That's why I'm fixing it...Do you seriously think a 40 year old Monte Carlo that barely runs is a safe way to transport a newborn child?
Yes...necessarily take it apart to make it knowingly reliable...And not only that but now you are going to unnecessarily tear apart your only mode of transportation to make it "a step up from stock"?
This is a G-Body enthusiast forum... But like I said, thank you for your concern, but also when i say "I'm OK" or "My child is OK" then thats exactly what I mean and the discussion is dead and gone...If having some concern for a newborn child that was born to a f*cking moron makes me a Karen I guess I'm okay with that.
Swapping because the new timing set is a double roller and comes with a new one...Is there a reason you're replacing the crankshaft gear? The cam sprockets are usually replaced because they were originally nylon & wear or teeth break off. Not so much on the crank gear. As long as they're not fubar'd, we've re-used them.
Hope it works out for you. Send my regards to Bubbles and Julian.Keyword "Had" a newborn in NICU...meaning she isn't in NICU anymore and well taken care of...so we can keep my child out of the discussion.

The fact that you won't leave it alone after that, makes you a Karen...
No need to explain my personal details to validate that with you, my child is fine, end of that discussion.
Oh yeah. 'Upgrading' to a double roller.Swapping because the new timing set is a double roller and comes with a new one...
This.Wow what a thread lol. It's happened to many of us the " I'll just do this too" when working on something and it could derail the whole thing, the cam check unessessary at this point just get back to fixing the leak and back to driving it for now then plan for performance upgrades then you know what you got in it
Glad your hooked...😎This thread has been most entertaining. It's like a good book you can't put down. I've learned a lot.
Now I know if I have a leak on my only mode of transportation that I need to fix ASAP so I can get a job, I'm gonna consider doing a bunch of unnecessary stuff that has nothing to do with the original issue, and against the advice of those I'm seeking it from, instead of fix the leak and move forward with employment.
I'm anxiously awaiting for the next chapter.
My hat's off to Scoti and some of you others in trying to keep Tynan918 focused.
Yea I haven't ultimately made the decision to do a cam swap just yet, I won't even really have the money to buy the cam and lifter kit until the 10th of this month or maybe even after...Wow what a thread lol. Yea I considered that too, just get this one running and buy a rebuild 350 or bigger to put the extras on and drop in this car...This.
It's a 305. Get it running & build an actual bullet separately.
