Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

Can't run it without a belt...no water pumping, no battery charging...

I'm getting there...
For long yes, and I saw you got it on. Glad you got the basics done man!

Ok... I started it and ran it for about 15 minutes at an incline with the engine pointing downward...everything attached.

Played with the throttle to raise the RPM's a bit Ran perfect, timing is correct...and no oil leaks...yet.

I only ran it for 15 minutes because the belt started stripping/breaking, so I'll need a new serpentine belt.

I see they come in 4-5 different sizes...how can I tell which one I need for my engine setup ?

Take the belt off you have now, and read the numbers on it.

Try your local parts store, and ask for 5K435 if you can’t though. (For Delco 88932598 I think.)

And if the belt I mentioned doesn’t fit, try 6K938 (OEM part num 88932788)

Hate to be the doomsayer here, but your current belt looks one rib off on the balancer.
Hence, it's shaving off the inner edge.
When you put the new belt on make sure you're in every groove all the way.
Run it, and check for alignment esp where it goes on the balancer.
You know where this is going.....
It’s possible the balancer isn’t all the way home.

Hmm, wonder if its due to not having the bolt. Im thinking if it was in the crank torqued it would have drawn the balancer in that last little bit. What do you think ?
