Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

It’s possible the balancer isn’t all the way home.
Going back to page 30 entry 292...I could be wrong but does this picture look of the gear on the crank is not all the way home? The second key is not visible outside the crank gear.

Well...I ran it again, for 20 minutes this time...revved the engine to about 3,000 rpms at times during this time...putting it in reverse and drive... NO OIL LEAKS !

The thermostat housing is leaking because I broke a bolt in the intake manifold, overtightened...

No big deal, I'm replacing it with a brand new idle-5,000rpm intake manifold, along with a brand new 500cfm carburetor and a transparent HEI distributor in a couple of weeks...

But all in all, NO OIL LEAKS ! 👍🏾😎🎯‼💯

Thanks for the heads up, this will give everybody some time to gather their notes for the "intake, carb and distributor" replacement thread.

If you do those I’ll get my essay finished for the stereo system wiring lmao.

Can’t have all 50 pages not worth the effort 🤣🤣🤣🤣👌

One thing I forgot to mention was the crankshaft snout does not even catch a thread when I attempt to put a brand new one in it...

Safe to say my engine was one of those that didn't use a crank bolt, or wouldn't the snout hose be blocked off or closed shut if it was ?
