Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

Well the balancer not so much but like a new distributor, carb, intake etc.

If it works, drive it. Don’t worry about upgrading right now is what I am saying 😂😂😂👌
Oh ok, I thought you were referring to the balancer bolt...🤣

Intake and carburetor swap is easy...as far as the distributor, I learned my lesson last time...so that's easy too...

Current Carburetor and intake are too big for my 305... The new carburetor will mist instead of spray, giving me better mpg and it's 500cfm instead of the 650cfm...

Current intake, the front plug where my temp sensor was on the prior Victor Jr. it came with, has a seized plug and without it my temp gauge doesn't work...it's also too big for my intended use, operation range at 1,000rpm to 6,000rpm vs. Idle to 5,000rpm... I'll never see 6,000rpm and my engine doesn't idle @ 1,000rpm...

That's also just a range.

When they spec "Idle to xxxx rpm", idle = the car actually moving (pulling away from a stop-sign/light) & not just sitting in Park. 1k rpm is where most cars will begin to pick-up speed (move). The difference between intake ranges spec'd by a manufacturer @ 'idle - 5,000' vs '1,000-6,000' is miniscule & would not be noticed.

I'm betting the same on the carb.... I've ran a 600 & 650cfm carb on a 305 before w/o issue. You're 'mileage' won't change noticeably going to a 500cfm carb & you're splitting hairs if that's the hope after the switch.

From Performer Series to AVS2 Series... Big difference...

I've done my math and my research...if the boot fits, wear it...

Hope so, and record a video for us soon when you are done. There shouldn’t be much stopping you from driving that now haha.

Just bought a new thermostat housing, housing bolts, clear distributor cap and steel flexible radiator upper and bottom hoses... 😎
