Is the fan, water pump, and harmonic balancer the only things I remove to get to the timing chain cover ?

I would borrow the tools from your relatives that have "the tools you need to do anything" or use the "loan a tool program" and see what is available from Autozone or some other place, I feel these tools are only going to be a one time use thing for you so buying them is just wasting money if there are other options to get them that don't cost anything.

Also your new chrome timing cover did come with a new timing pointer?
Yea my uncle is actually here visiting now, I could ask him to bring these tools down for me to use next time he comes down. They live in another county 45 miles away.

But if not, then I plan on only using these tools once, or buy them from harbor freight...if this is the case, are the tools pictured what I need ?

I would honestly rebuild the engine if you are going to pull it out. That way you won't have any more surprises when it does be a daily driver for ya.

An example of the engine running before I start taking off parts...

Are you sure this is a 305 it seems like someone did a lot of work to install a serpentine system, which would include converting the AC to the passenger side.

Thought about it, but my main concern with that is not being able to pull the motor from the car atm...and removing the exhaust headers to remove the heads.

I can only rebuild what I can while the motor is in the vehicle.

I would just fix the leak and be done with it, the car seems to run smooth enough anything beyond the repair is just opening up a can of worms and your wallet wide open.

Yea, the engine block numbers read '83-84 305 when I looked them up. The heads read 305 H.O.

But another guy in a MC FB group pointed out my front end assembly being different. Said the setup was a truck setup and more than likely the engine was pulled from an '83-84 C10 pick up.
