Went to see my Monte in the body shop...it's been in there for 9 months!!! No progress in the last two weeks. Too many excuses. It's not like he did a frame off restoration. I already gave him $3,000, so I'm hoping to get him to agree to give half of it back on a signed contract. Time to pull it, but in talking with the new potential body shop, he said let it stay there until I have all of the money ready for him, just so there won't be any delays. I don't need all of the money up front, but just good to have it. The car was stripped to bare metal and some body work was done....but I've missed an entire season of having my car. Complete waste of a year.

We just got an 85 GP in the shop that the guy had sitting at a shop for 3 years that they said would only take around 3 months. I really like the look of the car with the wire wheels. He said he has the same problem with his GN sitting at a shop with no work being done, such a shame so looks like we may get both.

Last year after I finished rebuilding/Procharging our TBSS it sat in paint jail for 3 months (January to April) - pretty sure the bill was $5000+/-. I hurts to not have your toy - but, paint and bodywork is a slow and fickle business: Fail to push and nothing happens, push too hard and nothing happens (because you are a nuisance).

Best bet is to learn to do it yourself.

"Also I really need 1500 so I can buy everything I need. My goal is to be done with the bodywork next weekend"

That was on February 16, 2017.

"In two weeks I will need you to come up and check out all the body will be done and then we will be pulling motor out to do the firewall" - March 27, 2017.

You get the point. It's almost AUGUST. Take the time that you need, I get that, but don't keep feeding me fake dates.

I hate paint jail and I hate those painters that don't do what they say they are going to do.

Bought a pneumatic DA sander... because bodywork.

Oh, and started filling my eBay basket with turbo fabrication parts.

Never never never pay up front to a body shop, unless they are buying parts for it. A legit shop will be able to carry the costs involved, and the good ones will set up a payment agreement/schedule as work progresses.

PS, I currently work in and have previously managed body shops
