After too long of doing lots of work but not getting anything done it was nice to get a few things accomplished yesterday 🙂

I finally swapped out the damaged bumper to a nicer one

PM me if you'd like to sell the rub strip off of the old bumper. It doesn't look super wavy and mine is actually torn in two so it is nicer than mine.

Went and picked this up..........may be for sale..................😵

John,
Maybe you can sell it to the guy who's looking at buying that black '86 Monte LS. This looks like a nicer car.

I think he is in Canada

That's too bad. Your car looks like it's in better shape than that one.
I don't know how much of a hassle it is to sell or buy a car across the border. I imagine it could be a royal pain in the *ss with the amount of paper work and red tape....not counting customs and duty fees.

Peeped at my bores again and really got in there to look around. Didn't find any corn this time, think i got all of that out. Anyway, I think the thing was definitely done up back in the 80s, rings, gaskets, bearings, etc. There is almost no ridge at all. It comes off with a vigorous scrubbing with a red scotch brite. It's very rudimentary and probably not even close to being accurate, but I took my .002 feeler gauge, stuck it in the bore and ran it upto the ridge and ran my fingernail over the ridge and the gauge. My finger would catch on the gauge, not the ridge. So I think it's safe to assume the ridge is slightly less than .002. I'll measure it better when I actually get the funds to tear it down completely, but the bores look pretty damn good, the cross hatching is terrible, looks like the rings were spinning too fast. Either way, i think it'll hone up fine and take new rings.

You can feel a step as small as .0002" with your finger, so it is possible that it's quite a bit less then .002".

I'm staying at my son's place while they are on vacation again. On the way into work this morning I pass through a town with a 40 mph speed limit and it's a hot spot for cops so I keep my speed under 45 mph. I have this shiny Hyundai SUV with 2 kayaks on it's roof right on my *ss going through this town so I figured it was time to clean my windshield, I hit the button and my F body pump did it's job. The Hyundai's wiper go on and she backs off....🙂

I'm not too sure, but I've read that a crappy hone job can cause the rings to spin in the lands moreso than they normally do, especially when the hone job is wider, I suppose in angle than the standard 45 degrees. I don't know how true that is, just kind of looks like it to me. Or just a crappy hone job.

Sanded and prepped the roof on the Monte
Been almost 15 years since i sprayed a car..... boy do I need a refresher!!!!
