What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2020]

145° isn't hot for brakes, if the brakes are not hot they don't work. Do some hard braking and they'll be over 200°. If you are usinfg ceramis pads they do not aborb heat so that heat gets transferred to the other brake components. That is the main reason I stay away from ceramic pads, I like pads to stay hot.

The rotor surface/pads for sure - but that seems abnormally hot for the wheels to have as a constant temperature. Especially for just normal driving.

I've set brakes on fire bedding pads/rotors - so yeah they can get up there.

That's the green fade. Once they get past that point they're good to go.

I have to do this with the Malibu (Replacing the lower Door Hinge Driver Side) Any suggestions on how to take the door off with only one person?
Engine hoist, motorcycle straps, and pool noodles or pipe insulating foam around the straps to protect the paint. It also makes leveling the door much easier upon reinstallation.

Got the Holley digital dash bracket on the go for the cutlass. Looks like it's going to be a real nice fit. Going to throw in a couple of mechanical gauges for some vitals too. Should be a win.
Nice! I have been wanting to measure my bezel to see how Holley dash would fit. Looking forward to see how it turns out?

Got to pulling apart my interior and chasing some bad wiring and grounds. I was contemplating removing the dash but I think I’ll wait to do a complete removal until I get a tilt column and have a dash cap to install. I only want to remove and install once if I can. In the mean time I removed all of the bolted on stuff.

Right off the bat I can see some ugly electrical tape connections on the steering column harness. I will tend to those tomorrow. I also removed my AC controls and found that one of the vacuum lines had melted.

Anyone know a part number for the vacuum harness? Any way to repair it or must it be replaced? Any other vehicles to source it from used or must it be a G body? Thanks y’all! Here’s my unit for reference:

Played a round of the at-home version of "where did the fuel go?" in the QJ. Carb was fresh when I got it, looked to have been epoxied by whoever rebuilt it, BUT the brown goop over the secondary plugs was soft, so I redid them all. Guess I'll know in a couple days if that was it. I had thought that it was draining back to the tank, but have a check valve in it, and still HARD to get fuel bowl filled after a few days. Built a lot of QJs over the years, this is the worst one ever.

May wind up with an electric pump before this is all over:blam:
