Took it out to the local Friday night burger joint cruise, the first time most have laid eyes on it since it’s rebirth. Got some really nice looks and comments on it.

Then went cruising for a couple hours afterwards and stopped for a coffee. She purred flawlessly the whole night!

when it looks like this you'll know it's time. 👎

I am hoping it was just some water intrusion from sitting somewhere. When I pulled the converter and poured a little out, it looked pretty good. I am hoping that means the water got in after the last time the transmission has moved. If it looked like it got pumped through the entire system, I probably wouldn't even bother trying to put it in and just sent it out for rebuild.

It lived its previous life behind a 307 in a Cadillac, so I am hoping it hasn't been beat on that hard.

Welding. as said mother nature hates iowa, so i only got my power back thursday night. also went out again this morning for an hour or so. yay.
only a bit more left to do welding wise. setting voltage on the only other setting and upping the wire speed helps but you gotta keep that mf moving like your life depends on it.
still somewhat on track to have it possibly maybe hopefully wishfully driving again by month's end.

I can't believe you took it out without the front bumper fillers! Sheeesh!

Just be happy it’s got outside door handles and mirrors on it now!

I changed the cast iron 24mm master brake for a 24mm aluminum one I bought from Napa. I inspected the rear drum brakes, cleaned and made sure they were adjusted correctly. There is no air in the lines, master has been bench bleed but I need one pump to get a good pedal...hmmm...I also adjusted the new steering stops I made a few days ago, the first set I made the material bent so this tine I used 1/4" plate, plasma cut what I needed and welded a bolt to it so the stops are adjustable. I had the stops too far out so I adjusted them so the tires stops about 3/4" from the sway bar. Cops here will have the car towed if they see any tire rubbing even at the extreme......

One more work day then Monday and Tuesday off. But while I had some time.

Re-sanded, Primed, Painted and Clear Coated the driver door, It looks better than what it did but I am noticing some over spray below the mirror. I am going to have to to leave that for a time. Also hit the Passenger side alittle bit in some area's that needed attention. That side minus the Rust on the bottom of the Quarter Panel and bottom front of the fender, is pretty much finished. Another coat of primer went onto the Roof, and once again I have had to give alittle focus on the hood as I tried painting it and the can partially blew up 😳 leaving drips that tore through the clear and paint, that has been sanded down and re-primed. Once the paint and clear coat cure on the door and either side of the door it'll look better. Going to be another hot day tomorrow all that will cure just fine.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a small G body gathering and cruise afterwards yesterday. Some nice rides and even nicer people. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and Olds Cool was extremely well received despite being not quite finished yet.

Some pictures...

...and clearly because I’m just a mekanik and not a photographer, a couple cruising videos afterwards taken by somebody better with the camera than me:

Did very little this week, was looking forward to getting a lot done this weekend, but was told on Wednesday that I would have to work Saturday. Got about 9-1/2hrs on the job today, then spent about 4hrs making more dash connections, and tidying up some electrical. Will be trying to make some headway tomorrow, but I think that I have more than a days work to get it driving again, plus I am still waiting on parts that should have been here Thursday, and other parts that should have been here Friday. I am waiting on a total of 4 different parts deliveries, one of which, I have been informed, is incomplete due to a couple of backordered items.
