Luckily my buddy was able to stop over yesterday and figure her out, turned out to be the Ignition Control Module in the Distributor
Are you using original GM ignition modules, chinesium knock offs or aftermarket HiPo types?

Not sure how I feel about someone showing off their juggling prowess that close to the possibly pristine sheet metal of that truck. Stated otherwise, what did that poor truck do to deserve being put in harm's way from a a missed catch of a large size crescent wrench?

Oh and forgot while I was looking at the fuel system stuff under the car I noticed the pinch welds didnt hold up on the driver side so used a couple zip ties to pull it back in for the time being

Took the back window out to reseal it. It's flappyness was irritating.
Also, does anyone know if the b pillar trim is different vinyl to hard top? It overhangs quite a bit with the over the roof trim removed.

So, I'm not sure how I feel about you using zip ties on my $50 car..

You know, this is going to sound really stupid, but, I had replaced a bunch of stuff in a distributor with new, supposedly good quality parts. And after driving a little, the car would chug and miss, basically lose power and want to stop running.

For lack of better word, and memory is fuzzy because it was 2018, there was a little metal tab inside that made contact with a different metal surface as things ran and spun making contact to fire the plug wires/plugs. Whelp, wouldn't you know when I bent the tab by hand to a different angle than factory to make better contact the problems went away and ran like a top. Still does.

That's best description I can make because I'm fully dosed on pain meds, back is angrier this afternoon than.... [insert your favorite metaphor here.]

I think you are referring to the metal "tang" on the distributor rotor that contacts the center terminal of the distributor cap.

Lemmesee here, think the term for the spinning object is Rotor, which makes the metal strip in the middle a contact, and it is attached to another one on the outside edge of the rotor which, when the rotor gets spun by the cam driving the dizzie gear causes the contact to pass by the terminal post inside the d-cap and cause a momentary passage of energy that fires the plugs in a pre set order. Howma doin' so far?

As for the supposed difference between "Factory OEM, Hy-Po, and Chinesium" I don't think there is, difference that is Why? "Cause no matter who the vendor is, the factories are all pretty much located over in PROC Asia, apart from a select few that call Taiwan home and them I personally and actively look for.

Got cutsey last year and wanted to match the cap and rotor to the color of the mill in the non G-body---G-body. The Vendor was a performance oriented company so I figured, Doom on me, that what they sold would be a durable long lived item. Yeah, Right, as IF. Brand New, never spun rotor and that contact that CK80 mentions literally fell apart in my hands. The piece of plastic that was supposed to be glued or fused on to retain the contact broke away.

I did manage to get another one of the same kind from my Indie Speed Shop here. In fact kudos to them as they went out of their way to get a resolution to the issue. Thing here is that it never should have happened. All of which goes to make me wonder what I might be getting if i go with a new timer this spring. The current resident is over 40 years old and the lower bearing is arguably looking to retire and go for a pension pretty soon. I have a replacement that I scored at a swap meet and cleaned up but again, still not new......... So......

Sounds about right. Lined up fine at first, worked great for a while. But after a bit of run/drive time I guess either it deflected enough or something to where it was making sporadic contact.

But re aligning things better got rid of the problem

Yeah I will have to give that a gander, I appreciate it. I know my buddy cleaned up a lot of the contacts because they were a bit dirtier than I would have thought they would be since they aren't that old. May have an alignment issue like you were saying
