What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2022]

Broke out the 220 wet and dry and the spritzer bottle and started the tedious process of stripping off the Code 79. Going all the way back to bare metal in some places. Think the next step will be a coat of primer/sealer in dark gray. May prep and shoot a test panel to see what the gray primer does for the color. May just say F*** it and hang the door just to get it out of the way so I can bring in the S-10 for some desperately needed brake work.

better than it being the other way around rite?
I've read further reviews on the summit branded gauges and every complaint for the temp gauge basically echos my experience. Reads wrong, reads while cold, or plain doesn't work. It worked fine for two years but I think I'm going to an electric temp gauge. Oil will always be mechanical but temp I'm fine with electric.

My temp gauge is a "Stewie" (Stewart-Warner) and in a comparison between it and the temp gauge that my FI unit uses, two separate sending units in two different locations on the motor, they pretty much agree. The Stewie is electrical.

...
Took just about the usual amount of teasing and twerking to get it into place and cooperative enough to let the bolts slide in and accept their nuts.
..... I'll know if I got them right when I wake up tomorrow and find out how badly I hurt...

Am I the only one here who sees a few potential jokes in here with a smattering of innuendo?

I pulled my "defective" rear tires today and gave the rims a quick polish. Take them to the tire shop tomorrow for some new skin they have waiting for me. Tires keep losing tread every 2-3 years but just on the back for some reason.

"A smattering" or a smut-tering? As for the in-nude-endo, well the bolts were provided with a good coat of Never Seize prior to being inserted into their designated orifices, (or should that be orifi ??) so they were protected. Apart from that, it was just a normal case of a little screwing around to get the job done.

And yeah, things must have gone properly because my left shoulder and ribs hurt on the following day. Going on 20 years since heart surgery and to this day my sternum, aka breast-bone, still hasn't healed completely. (And if anyone on the site can testify as to how breasts get to have bones, have at 'er.) However, on the bright side, I can safely describe how a pressed duck might feel.

I had my mechanic over today to install a new gas sending unit in my car, and what do know the tank started leaking around the seams as he was trying to get the strap bolts out. I started looking on line for replacement, I didn't realize just how expensive they are. he said as long as i keep the gas level below the seam which is about a quarter of a tank I can drive it until I get a replacement

Put a deposit on a 1979 El Camino.

NY car imported to Canada, registered last since the Christmas in 2001 believe it or not. I do wonder the history behind this vehicle.
