I was giving my pontiac vibe to my daughter for her 16th birthday. She requested i paint it pink for her. She helped sand , tape it up and i sprayed it satin pearl pink. We are going paint the mirrors and grills black. And order 16" beauty rings for the wheels

So, kind of a recap of sorts from the Charlotte Autofair....

Lots of good stuff and deals to be had, and, hardly any non-automotive stuff which is a great sign for swap meet everywhere.

Sold a few centercaps and an old shifter which paid for the space, gas, and food. Also offset my collection of buying andnhorsetrading that went on.

Ended up hauling home new treasures: (4) 15x8 c10 factory rally wheels/caps/trimbands, (4) 15x7 c10 factory rally wheels/caps, (4) 14x7 Olds SSIIIs with caps/rings, (4) 14x7 Olds SSIIIs with caps/inserts/rings on junk tires, (1) c10 power door complete in and out and no bottom lip rust, some full rockers for the yukon xl, what I think is a 1980 monte carlo grille, 2 pairs of monte taillights, (1) buick regal polycast 14" wheel with cap and trim ring, (1) 6 lug gm 4x4 rally rim with cap and ring, a 1977-up gm tailgate.

Add to that some plasma cut steel unfinished decorations, random collectibles for the wife... somehow shoehorned it all into the yukon along with the random trade goods I brought that didn't move. Told the wife, has to be my best packing ever since it joined camping supplies, 2 sets of headers in box, a set of 18" wheels, 3 sets of s10 grilles and bezels, 2 pair of boxed mirrors, ss gauges, bezels, console, qtr extensions, bezels for regals and cutlass, nos fuel pumps, sending unit, few other things and pair of tables and canopy, all with no trailer and nothing on the roof.

So all in, yes, I came home $200 in cash poorer but swapped and bought a TON of new things. I've about got enough gm truck wheels to find a powder coater to do a bulk package of maybe 2 dozen at once at a hopefully reduced price.

Well I never thought I'd be a daily driver pickup driver but I guess I'm one of those people.

Been passively looking for a Rainier replacement for the last few years and actively for a few months. It runs fine but the frame rot has gotten bad enough I don't feel comfortable towing with, needs tires and gets the random heeby jeebies over bumps and turns.

Swore off dodge since my Durango a few years ago
Didn't like the yukons
Sierras were decent
But the visibility of the f150 won out.

Found this '2002 spec' 18 5.0 10 speed ext cab, bench, XLT 302a so lariat style heated power seats and bigger radio screen. 48k miles. Shockingly still has 10k on the Ford power train warranty which was unexpected to me, never thought I'd have something with a warranty. Usually I am the warranty.

It's more $$ than I wanted to spend but it's newer, lower miles and basically exactly what I wanted so grumble grumble I guess. Seems like 18-19's dont have that much $$ premium over the 15-17 and really wanted the 10 speed and the 18-19 front end looks better with the STX grill.

Wanted a blue or red but this one is silver which I'm ok with. At least it's not white!! Tried finding a salvage auction one but this spec is really hard to find and they get fixed instead of going to auction.

It got 21mpg driving the 220 miles back from Sioux Falls SD at 70-80mph, not bad for a brick with 395hp. We will see what the commute to work settles in at.

It needs a few things in the next year once I replenish the slush fund. I'd like to throw a set of lowering shackles on the rear to pull the stinkbug stance all these new pickups have. I want to find an STX mesh grill since the chrome XLT one is pretty ugly in my opinion. I'd also like to put some leather seats in because they seem to last longer than fabric and they're easier to clean.

Hopefully it gets me 10 years.

First dealer experience. Only vehicle I've ever bought that was able to be driven home with no work was my wagon!

Strange world I'm living in.

Frigging sweet! Just took mine on a 1000+ mile round trip up to the tip of the Michigan mitten. Ran flawlessly and averaged 21.5 MPG with my foot a bit heavy on the pedal. My passenger daily's a GMT900 Sierra 1500 and couldn't believe how quiet and smooth it was compared to his truck.
