I don't know if FedEx is maybe better in other parts of country but they have regularly been awful for me. I've had great luck with USPS.

UPS solely makes money by fisting canadians on brokerage fees. I've had them try to charge me more than items were worth for duty. Good business strategy because they never disclose the fees up front.Back in college UPS came to one of my industrial engineering classes and tried to recruit.
Granted they were tried to toot their own horn BUT-
UPS claimed their business is built & managed by engineers doing the logistics and that Fed-Ex is run by Marketing and finance people.
Basically UPS's goal is to make things as effective and fast as possible, and that Fed-Ex is made to generate money and hype
BUT thats from a UPS employee 10 years ago.
