The truck still needs to pass bi yearly inspections. During the test they drive over a in floor camera, not sure if they might detect any Jerry rigging with it. Its due this July. Right nowvits displaying both a SES light and check gas cap light so it would not pass with either illuminated.

With the bed, the front sheetmetal that sits up top of the bushings is gone. I have a toolbox and racks on the bed, guess they need to be removed first to reduce weight.

I do have a engine crane I could use to lift the bed. Right now it seems the gas tank is holding the front of the bed up. I probably can build a new DIY bed in a pinch. Last thing I need on top of the bathroom rebuild.

Depending what you've got the tool chest fornscan tools let autozone or one of the stores that pulls ses codes for free in n hopes of selling parts pull the code. Code might be related to pressurized the tank or some such. Depending what the set takes to fix then decide if the rest is worthwhile? Sounds like most of it would be tank related though.

I'd wonder with the under camera if you can get away with a couple hour fix by angle grinding away what's left of the front support and replacing with some tube stock. Epoxy it to some cleaned off bed floor, then undercoat from rattlecan. If panel bond is good enough for quarter panels it's good enough for a support that went holds in place.

Has to be some quicker fixes than just a bed swap or building a flatbed and headache rack.

I already have a decent scanner, got 2 gross EVAP leak and gas cap DTCs. The front edge of the bed is pressing on the gas tank which spans from under the cab to the under the bed. The filler tube is located in the front corner of the bed. Its a mess either way.

Know anyone with a metal break? Get some sheet metal and have them bend you up some pieces like this to slide in then zip screw them to what's there with some panel bond between ain't right but it gets you where you need to be

Sounds like a challenge! See if you can't float a 2x2 through without them noticing, rattle can it all with that rubberized undercarriage stuff.

I do have a 90 amp MIG welder with shielding gas, its enough to spotweld sheet metal.

Got a quote to replace the roof on the house. The house is now 25 years old and the roof is original. We had a couple shingles blow off over the winter and I can see a lot of them are cupping. We had 6 square replaced on the back of the house when the Oak tree fell on the house 3 years ago.
When a windstorm took out a bunch of shingles on my 20-year old roof, Farmer's paid a guy to literally count missing shingles and calculate the percentage of damage. Blamed me for delayed maintenance. As soon as that check cleared, I joined USAA. And put a metal roof on the house. I'll be dead the next time it needs to be replaced. "Have we lost customers because we spent more on the actor than the claims? Yeah, we've seen that."

Suppose this is decent news here.

Glad my suspension from driving is over as of a few weeks ago, so to get back my license is nice.

Caprice is back on the road too. Heres what I’ve done.

Took the spare tire off, and got another one on.

Replaced the alternator belt.

Fixed turn signals and the horn, because driving without that is a hell naw lmao.

Also got it safetied again, because for some illogical dumb f*cking reason when you do dual ownership with your spouse, it doesn’t need to be but when it’s with family it needs another safety? Waste of my money and my mechanics time.

Still doesn’t want to start in damp weather like today, so hopefully I can get the aged lightning whirler completely upgraded with the new one as it came with a Accel supercoil from an Ebay combo deal 💪

Going to do plugs too, and probably wires because I was told they might be from the 80’s.

*In Dereks voice* Just… *sighs* Great, grand….
