So here's the issue. My dad is incredibly cheap when it comes to cars. He shops on price alone and he will buy something he doesn't really want in order to save some money. When he first started looking for a car, he wanted something AWD like a Honda Crosstour or a Subaru Outback, but he didn't want to spend Honda or Subaru money.
He found this and while it wasn't a Subaru, it had good AWD and handled incredibly well for a crossover. It was an IIHS top safety pick and it was better optioned than anything else in its price range and better looking than any of it's competitors, and it was less than a Honda or Outback. The materials quality wasn't as nice, but the fit and finish was still good.
However the long term durability is where it seems to be suffering. The underbody is showing a measurable amount of rust. No holes or anything that is an issue yet, but far more surface rust than what I'm used to seeing on a 6 year old vehicle. The wheels have had issues with corrosion causing leaks around the beads of the tires. It needs a wheel bearing. The interior materials are wearing faster than I would expect. The drivers seat, armrest and steering wheel don't look so great. The flange gaskets in the exhaust system have failed a couple times. It has an electronic parking brake that has had some electrical glitches.
It's unfortunate because otherwise it's not a bad car. It hasn't had any major mechanical issues, it's easy to drive and it's comfortable. Fuel mileage is around 26-27 mpg. The infotainment system is easy to use and has a lot of functionality. I just wish the car was holding up better.
Washed the pollen off of the F-150 and filled it with a tank of E15. I've never used E15 before but it's about 20 cents cheaper per gallon and I'm curious to see how much it affects my MPGs.

Yeah Mazda was never great with rustproofing. Like your Mazda 3, this CX-5 isn't a bad car, it's just aging faster than I think it should. Wheel bearings that bad to replace?Mazda's have a bit of a corrosion issue historically. I've got a 2013 Mazda 3. The amount of underbody corrosion is shocking, especially compared to a friends 2012 Acura. Mine's got ~140k miles (220k km) on it. Hasn't been a bad car, but it's definitely starting to show it's age. Biggest chronic issue I've had with those is wheel bearings. At least they're cheap - if not a pain in the *ss to replace.
It's a 2015. I like the SuperCabs. Enough room that I can fit people if I have to, but if I'm with a group, no one is choosing to take my truck if it means riding back there. Its actually not that cramped. I'm 6'2" and I can sit back there. It's tight, but I fit. The supercrews are nice, I love how spacious the rear is, but I never ride back there. The Supercrews with the 5.5' box are very common. The 5.5' box is just too short for what I need to haul and the Supercrew 6.5 bed has the turning radius of a barge.2015? or 2016? I've got a 2016 SuperCab too. Not many of them out there. Seems like most are the SuperCrew with 5.5' box.
I think my DUI distributor is USA but not certain. I can look the next time I'm at the storage.Started to dig around and inventory what I needed to prep the G-10 for summer operations. Will have to hit the speed shop tomorrow for oil but they have Royal Purple 10W/40 with ZINC in it so that makes me a happy camper. Put the van up on a stack of those wooden lifting flats that I made for the transmission swap last year and got to test run my floor jack adapter in the process. Adapter worked fine; turns out the jack needed some hydraulic fluid so that was a today thing to do. Thing is a brute to lift but trying to add oil with it on the floor is a messy PITA so up onto the bench it went.
Otherwise the next item for it is a laptop so i can dig into the Fuel Injection maps and find out why my cold idle rpm won't come up to the norm during warmup. Another PITA. Wish I had been smart enough to score a Sun Distributor Service Unit when they started to become obsolete but space and $$$$ ruled the day.
Put the exhaust parts box onto a furniture dolly to make it moveable; found out why my one dolly was acting like a drunk when it rolled along th floor, the pivot bearings and axle pin were dry as a bone! No oil or grease or even spit to help things move along. Amazing what a goodly amount of Fluid Film sprayed into the moving parts can do to help matters move along.
Still on the fence about the future of my current distributor. I was thinking about a Davis Unified HEI but they are not available locally and I am not certain about their manufacturing pedigree. Most of the others get their products from the PROC brigade so no enthusiasm there.

24 hour marinade in Dr. Pepper, then broiled in it at 350*F. 3L of Dr. Pepper reduced to syrup and turned into BBQ sauce. The glazed for 45mins.
Bringing this one up with the ribs, I smoke a ton of food I'll have to try that one. Been making pulled pork in the crock pot with a pork loin and 12oz can of root beer, 6 hours on low. Juice has nice flavor. You can choose to season the sauce. I usually do. Onion and garlic powder, black and cayenne pepper, paprika, Lea and Perrin's Worsctesucsususreure sauce... and a cup of ketchup as a base.
The rub is paprika, cayenne and black pepper, salt, and onion powder.
