What did you do to your non-G body project today? [2022]

Fair enough. The overpaint on the mill was not something that I had paid much attention to. What i could see of the block Looked more to me like burn off and just raw casting showing than anything. And I do appreciate your suspicions about the guts of the engine given there is not provenance by way of receipts for what is alleged to be in it. So the plan would be to trash the resident mill and plug in an Olds, or an LS of some kind, then?.

Also going to agree with CK80 on the body. The apparent relatively decent condition of the quarters does not jibe with what the picture shows the condition of the rear end and springs to be. It could be a case of "out of sight, out of mind" but it could also be a case of a 50 footer put out for a quick flip.

FYI, I do like the default condition of the green Omega. As pointed out it would be a better base line from which to build up a project. Maybe hop the Hound, take the scenic route to Georgia, and come home with a new ride......................?

Or better yet, since he doesn't care about the drivetrain long term he can buy it, leave it at one of our houses here, I'll flog it till it dies all summer, then he can pick it up and tow it home next spring when he's ready for moar project!

😆!!! That'd work too.

Nick
We could make it the official gbodyforum powertour flogging mule! If it broke down up in the Tennessee legs we could just push it into a storage unit and he could collect it almost halfway home.

If it broke in georgia, we could push it somewhere around here to sit for the winter.

Fun for all! Hey, depending on the level of a floggin someone wanted to give it, we could take up donations to offset the purchase price.

This could become a thing...

What scares me most about the red one is those quarters look like bondo jobs? Maybe just picture. Could be bubbling paint looks weird.

But if it is bondo, I'd bet there's more elsewhere that hadn't bubbled up yet, which also brings us to..... vinyl roof. Hider of all sorts of evils on 70s cars that sat around a bunch. A nice painted hardtop is less period correct, but, also hides nothing.

But, with a budget like you throw around, you should be able to get something decent.

Besides, if you do powertour this summer, could plan to look at a bunch of cars while on the trip.

If it's Bondo it's old. It for sure had some light rust in the lips but the lower spots were more just starting to bubble. The bottom of the car looked pretty solid especially around the spring mounting locations which is what I'm the most worried about.

Power tour down south! I've tossed it around but I think I'm just going to do drag week spectating for 2 days. GA is a long drive for this northerner!

Probably either LT (the DI version), an olds or the atlas 4.2 I6. Depending on what I stumble on at the time. I should toss an LS in it because I've got a good stack of parts but I've done one and I'm kinda over it so time for something new.

Lol, yes, the community power tour machine. Think of how short the tires would last when your not paying for them!!!

Yes but, we put a rule in. You blow the tires you need to replace them. Used is OK. So then its a test of skill... how close to blown can I get the tires while leaving them to the next guy to replace!

Ah, Atlas 4.2 I-6?? We be talking diesel here? You could always electrify it. GM has a solidly wicked e-drive that they plan on offering commercially. Or, if a diesel, why not a GM Series 71 two stroke? They come with a blower and adding the turbo is basically a trip through the parts book or even maybe E-Buy. Would probably mean a set of frame connectors as insurance Biggest hassle would likely be the transmission; you could end up sitting in the back seat! Anyone for a street legal diesel powered altered coupe??

Wanted to report back on my E15 fuel mileage. Prior to the E15 fillup, I was averaging 16.9 MPG. Mixed city and highway though more highway than usual lately. I usually drive like an old man but I run the A/C all the time and I do idle sometimes. I also disabled the Auto Stop/Start so the truck does not shut off when stopped in traffic. I forgot to take a picture of the cluster showing the average, but I've got no skin in this, this is simply an experiment, so you'll have to take my word for it.

And here's my results after a week of driving on E15-

Essentially no difference. Slightly improvement actually. Probably not worth noting unless I could sustain it with a longer test cycle. I drove the Dodge a few times this week so I didn't put as many miles on it as I could have but ill report again once I run the tank out.

Bought another one.

Mtd/Troy bilt Pony. Only used twice for leaf collection with a tow behind mechanized collector. Best estimate was about a dozen hours run time before being parked in a workshop.

Chute guard came with, wasn't on it because of the leaf machine tube mount.

Gave it a wash to get rid of the accumulated dust, a jump because the battery was weak.

So new battery, going to check plug and do an oil change, should be good to go.

Not even gonna tag me? Damn...
