My Olds is a Hurst Olds with the code R engine in the VIN and the coil replacement shows both DR31 and DR32 as replacements.
Can anyone tell me the difference which I believe may be in output.............but I can't seem to find the info anywhere.........thank you. AZ
My 1979 Hurst Olds with the 350 still has it's OEM CAT, with 83K on it. It has a small hole in it and I was just thinking of having a straight pipe
made for it and eliminate the CAT altogether.
I may end up patching the hole in the OEM Cat if the cost of a straight pipe is cost prohibitive...
1979 Olds, original tach was reading 500 rpms high at times. Does go to zero when key is turned on. Then when engine starts, rpms still go about 500 too high and
then becomes even more inaccurate at times. The needle does NOT sweep and swing.
Someone mentioned a ground issue but what ground...
an exhaust flange DONUT...............with the crowned part towards the exhaust manifold or does the thin ring
go into the manifold?
Mine blew out and I have no clue which way to put it in...........thanks.
Engine is an 1979 Olds 350 code R in a Hurst Olds.
Thank you.
I am planning a trip to look at a parts car and the seller says it is a 79 Supreme....and I only have one washed out poorly focused photo to look at.
I have a 79 Calais and I have a list of parts I need for it.
Is it worth the 100 mile trip to look at the Supreme if I need these items for my...
I'm mounting SSII 15X7 inch wheels on my 1979 which came with 14X6 wheels. The inside edge of the rim along with the wheel weight is
hitting the tie rod end.
Can someone recommend a spacer of 1/4 inch that I can install on the front hub that will push the rim away enough to allow me to bolt...
The seller made an honest mistake and told me he did measure the outside rim or lip and it did show 8 inches........
he finally agreed they are 7 inch SSII's..............but now I have a 265/50/15 tire that I need to mount and will it go on the
7 inch and how do they look?
I appreciate any...
I'm coming to the experts here...........some websites show it is too large for the 8 inch wheel and say 245 is absolutely the widest.....
here is the dimensions of the tire:
Diameter 25.4
Width 10.4
Sidewall 5,2
Circum. 79.9
These will be going on Super Stock Olds 8 inch...
That's pretty much it..............can someone give me a ballpark figure? I can't find any 8 inch on Ebay..............to compare..........
I want to be fair and yet not be taken to the cleaners........the seller does not have a price in mind yet...........so he is researching as I am to
try...
I need a gasket for my 1979 Cutlass Hurst with the 5.7.
The gasket I need is the one that has 3 holes in it
On the passenger side
The pipe goes from the combined exhaust to the cat converter.
I need the gasket that goes above that 3 bolt flange with the bolts with springs on them.
Can any one...
Looking at a set of wheels that are 15 inch , 10 inch wide with 4.5 inch backspacing. Would these work on my 79 Cutlass without ANY
modifications? I don't want to use wheel spacers or notch the frame. Just bolt on and go........all I am asking............
the front are 15X7 so no problem...
Odd thing is, I removed my dash, managed to get all the gauges working, I put the gauge cluster in without fastners and the tach reads correct.
It zeros out at key on and the idle rpm is right and a few blips of the throttle and the tach reads and returns as it should.
I fasten the gauge...
removed the unit to do a lot of work on that side of the engine compartment and now it's time to reinstall............
just need a good lead or link to a place to get the complete set of O rings and or seals needed to put the system
back in and then take it to have it charged.
Thx,
AZ
I decided to go a different route on my 79 H/O. Here's a chance to get an good deal on a brand new set of wheels and tires for your H/O or 442.
The set has less than 100 miles on them. Please see my posted ad for more details. Thanks for looking. AZ
I'm not even sure I understand my own question but my wheels are said to be concentric and came with a
hard plastic ring that went over the hub or axle end that protrudes through the brake drum.
(THIS QUESTION ONLY PERTAINS TO REAR WHEELS WITH DRUM BRAKES)
I'd like to move the wheel out about...
I have had my gauges apart oh say five times so far. Good news I got the oil pressure gauge to work and installed new LED lights.........BUT
I followed a repair video on the GBody You tube and I soldered a wire between the center post and the V8 post on the tach leads.
with the initail...
I just completed a 2 inch spindle drop on my H/O and sadly I got ahead of myself and purchased tires and wheels BEFORE I did this.
You all know where this is going.
The tire and wheel fit nicely in the wheel well.......but when I turn and have any kind of suspension travel on the driver's side...
I have my gauge cluster out and this is the second time....my first attempt remedied a lot of issues but I still had the oil pressure
gauge reading over 60.
I just took the gauge cluster apart again and made sure all the contacts were secure and so forth. ALL my other gauges read fine..
I DID...
I installed a new gas tank AND sending unit...........thought I got the right one but the sending unit only has 2 tubes on it.
One to pump the fuel to the fuel pump and the other is the overflow or return line back to the tank.
I have the carbon canister and I see the line going back to the...
