Thanks man I appreciate it. I took the rings off since the alto kit I have has new ones. I was debating on taking them off but did . I too have been looking for the Teflon seals for the drum with no luck. I will be taking the drum to a machine shop as well as the 4th clutch piston so I can add a 3rd clutch.

I think I'm going to keep the 7 vane. Dave Husek uses them in his builds when I spoke to him a few months ago. I was looking at the trans go hardened ring and spring kit. Do you have the part # for the sonnax?

That grumpy build is great! I zoomed on the pics. The next thing I'll do is drill for the drain back on the pump.

Thanks,

Joe

If a guy like Dave Husek uses the 7 vane, it should be fine for nearly anything. I can tell you my pump sucked for pressure in forward gears with the 13 vane and the Transco high rev spring. My reverse pressures were good for some reason. Transgo .500 forward boost valve and whatever their reverse boost valve is. I needed a .555" boost valve to hit 220 psi, was 185, good thing I bought a gauge. I wish I knew about the double spring trick, should have tried that.

Do you guys have the information pertaining to drilling the drain back hole in the pump, or has this already been done on the newer pumps?

Thank you very much, Joe.
I appreciate the link and information.

Another question. What would be the best way to remove and reinstall the bushings without having the designated tool?
I have to replace my center support which will most likely need to have the bushing replaced.
My trans appears to have very little time on it, so I'm sure the remainder of the bushings are still good.

Thanks again, Joe.
I guess I will have to improvise...and, of course check out the ATSG manual to see how it's done in there.

Oh, on the first picture in regard to drilling out the drain back holes. I noticed the chamfer on the side. I'm guessing that had to be done in order to get a better angle on the drill bit.?

The pump is already like that. It may get a bit bigger during drilling. This is my pump
