Actually, the stepped band clamps worked great for me on my 2002 Camaro SS. I had the CME exhaust tips chromed and when I reinstalled, I polished up some stepped band clamps to make a neat transition at the tip to pipe.
I got them at a school bus supply company for a lot less than the "speed shop" places. Donaldson made the stepped ones they used on the front of the optional CME exhaust, but in the back at the tip, they used crimp clamps. In fact, Donaldson made the SLP air filter and performance intake option for the Camaro SS/Firehawks for the later 4th gens.
Why pay $30+ when you can get the same thing for around 10 bucks each?
