Well, it's been awhile since any work or updates have been done to my cutlass. The holidays took a toll on my family as my wife, kids and myself had to jump ship from the house we own due to mold issues causing my girls to stay sick, move into my sister's basement, etc. We moved into a rental house in late january while we figure out what to do with our house. Meanwhile, my body guy had a death in the family yadadada and it seemed like delay after delay for us getting to work on the cutlass. Now that life has settled back down a bit the cutlass grind is back on!
Last friday was the 1st time I've seen the olds since oct and man what a relief! I've got some great help prepping the body for primer as my work schedule doesn't coincide with my body guy's cutlass time as he has a normal full time job, but we all love the car hobby. In the past several weeks they have been working hard on the beast making sure the door gaps are straight(new hinge pins and bushings make a world of difference on them heavy *ss doors....no more sag!) The quarters are looking really good, luckily I've taken care of my baby since 2001 so the fenders, bumpers, and bumper covers are in great shape and just need prep work. We took the bumperettes off and will be giving the bumpers the "GN" treatment since re chroming is overpriced in my opinion. The original goal was to have primer on it by Thanksgiving but as most know, delays happen. A more realistic goal is to lay the 1st coat of primer by the first week of june....then block, prime, block, prime until I'm happy enough(i tend to get picky but i wanna see my vision come to life) to lay down the color which will be a PPG factory offered charcoal metallic buried in clear. Torn on blacking out the trim, but its in great shape so i will prolly just clean it up real good, polish it and throw it back on. Hope you guys enjoy the progress because i sure do!!!
