My dad: 1984 t type. 1976 buick 455 with a tci streetfighter 200r4. 3.42 open differential.

My car: 1979 olds cutlass salon with a built 327. Rebuilt th-350 with a brand new posi and 3.42 gears.

Personally i think it will be close because he has the torque but shifts at around 4k. I have the hp and shift around 6500 plus the brand new posi. Any opinions are welcome thanks!

Bone stock 76 455? What does it have for exhaust? Without slicks he will be at a disadvantage, probably spin most of the track.

That Buick would normally have no issues cooking you, but everything is stacked up against it.

Buicks win races in the first half of the track. With it only being 1/8 mile, and no posi, its just going to fry tires and go nowhere. It wont have the topend to pull it in.

The posi will take this one, and motors wont even really factor into the equation.

Now lets say we took it to the quarter mile

I am on the Dad's side, I love original power plants in these cars. The Old's, Buick's and Pontiac's V8 were all very good motors. Remember, the sbc wasn't called the Hemi killer back in the day, it was the Buick 455. He might have the advantage in the 1/4 mile, tough to spin the whole track.
