Sean's 78 Camaro Z28

Should we leave the wheels grey or paint them body color?

  • Leave grey

  • Paint blue to match the body car, the way the car was when new

Sorry for the slow response guys! With the car being 'finished' and Sean enjoying it, it got past me to come back and respond.

Jared, if you remember we ran a 2nd gen Camaro in a superstock division for a few years so I have a bit of experience on these Camaros , this Camaro was a top runner with a few wins and the weekend after this minor bump we were back up front...

That's a cool race car Steve. That looks like a pretty light hit. Just needs a little touch up. 😛

Crafty solution on the switch.

Thanks. It was the best I could come up with at the time. We ended up cutting the door anyway so I wish I hadn't done it but it isn't hurting anything. It's just bad for my OCD that the two sides don't match. Hopefully we never have to pull the door panels so I guess it doesn't matter.

Looks great! Congrats on the hard work. Now I would like to see that thing put some rubber to the road ( and pics to prove it ) LOL

Thanks man. We appreciate it. Admittedly, we're not ones to do burnouts and abuse on our cars. I've never really understood how the folks on TV spend all this money and put all this time and effort into a build and then take it out and treat it like crap and burn up the new tires and sling rubber on the new paint. That being said, we do like to drive our stuff spirited. I have a little knock-off gopro camera and I want to do a drive around vid. Hopefully I'll get that done and posted before it gets hot.

Jared, congrats to you and Sean on hammering down and checking off the punch list! The Camaro looks great with the interior all buttoned up, new glass, etc. I bet Sean is stoked to drive it more now than ever.
Enjoy that beautiful car, you guys have earned it!

Thanks buddy. Sean is really enjoying the car. He's driven it to work at least a half dozen times. After 32 years he finally has the car he wanted all along. It's a great feeling.

Kickass man!

Thanks man.

Sounds like you and your brother were very productive. Congrats on getting through the entire list. That is one of the best looking second gen Camaros I've seen.

Thanks Opie! We really appreciate the compliment. That blue just pops on that body style. Way back in the mid 80's Sean wanted to paint the car black. I'm glad he went back with the original color.

I really like those cars but I'm not sure there are any out there that need restoration and can you imagine trying to find parts for one? Working on that helicopter engine would be entertaining though.
Sweet! Forgot about those! Time to catch up.
Thanks for the interest Victor. I'm looking forward to when your car comes back from paint.
Car looks great Jared! I'm sure Sean...and well both of you are glad things are squared away. Now it's time to really enjoy it!
Thanks Kevin. It's a funny feeling that the car is 'finished'. Sean and I are talking about taking it to a car show Saturday night. That should be fun. Sean's been driving it to work quite a bit lately and enjoying it. That makes it all worth it for me.
Jared, it looks like you almost have a reality show going on with all the cars you guys are working on, too bad you guys are not getting the large $$$ those unreality stars get
Thanks Steve. I'm glad we're not making TV but I wouldn't mind the paychecks. We've been at this so long, I don't know what we'll do with ourselves once all three cars are 'finished'. Dad's been working on the Galaxie off and on since the very early 90's. Sean and I were on the Camaro since '06. I guess we'll probably come up with another project.

She came home on June 7th.....

We're really thrilled with how it turned out. We can't thank James enough for turning us on to Justin. This wouldn't have happened had it not been for James and this forum. Sean's been driving the car to work. We've worked on it a little but I'll update that progress later. We have a punch list. They are never done but once the punch list is done, it will be substantially complete. It feels good to have this thread basically caught up. It's been a fair investment of time to cover ten years of work but I'm glad this is out there. Again, I can't thank you guys enough for the positive feedback. It means a great deal. I will update this thread as we make progress. Thanks again for following along.

Well, well... That car turned out better than I even expected. I'm sad to say that I have not even seen it in person, since the paint was completed. My show schedule, and the fact that I work nights, doesn't leave much time for hanging out (Dammit). It's been too long since I have been on this forum.

Jared, thanks for reaching out to me yesterday...I appreciate it. You, and your family are class act folks, and can't wait to see you guys. Please encourage Sean to get this car out to the shows. Erik ( 83 Hurst Olds ) and I are to get together at the Halloween Car Show at the Funeral Museum on October 27. I sure would like to see this car there. Now I better get to work on my punch list... See you soon.
