Selling Things...

Just sold the engine, doors, and quarters off my old Monte. Knocked 15% off the package because he was a polite kid and it saves me a bunch of headaches down the line.

Good for you, Mike,
Sometimes you don't mind making concessions when people are nice and genuinely sincere.
Somehow, I think you don't get the same inordinate amount of *ssh*les on Kiijiji as you do in Craigslist...but I might be wrong.

Your nation is 10 times larger than ours, which means your potential for exposure is relative to the total concentration of available *ssh*les in the area.

Good point there...increased volume, more potential a**holes.

Those are the worst! How much effort does it take to post a pic of the item for sale?

Second worst, in my opinion are the posts in which the seller can't bother to take a decent pic of the item, especially with cars. The pics are either blurry, too dark or they don't even get the whole car in the pic. Seriously, you want to sell your car but you can't take a pic of the entire car?

I see so many pics like these on the local Craigslist.

Then the mother of all Craigslist fouls has to be the picture if the car where they use their thumb to block the license plate. You end up with a perfectly focused pic of the thumb and the car they are asking thousands for is an afterthought. How lazy can you be?

But but but.....you might track them down and steal it from the plate number. Because that couldn't happen from DRIVING IT AROUND WITH THE PLATE EXPOSED EVERY DAY! Flippin' morons.

That's because they don't want you to know it is your car they are trying to sell!

Or people think someones going to call the cops and say you robbed them and murdered someone and give the description and plate # of your car and say you did it. At which point you tell the cops you didn't and none of this makes sense. And then it's over.

One thing I have noticed as of late is ******* sellers that expect you to drive 2+ hours to look at their car while they refuse to send more pics. I talked to a guy about a 71 Monte Carlo 2 hours from me. No pic in the ad, I ask for pics and I get the "serious buyers will come and look at it". I said no one is going to drive that far to check out a car they can't see beforehand. He got lippy so I sent him a pic of the cash he was asking for in my hand with a caption of "have a nice day".

Also had one last week with an 85 cutlass that had one pic in the ad with the closing sentence of "text for more info and pictures". I text him for more info and some more pictures and he says I will have to come and look at it.

I enjoy flagging their ads.
