So this happened today

To me that plug doesn't look like ever fired, are you sure that plug wasn't ike that when you installed it?. I have seen plugs that got hit by a piston and there doesn't seem to be any contact marks on the plug you pulled. The loss of power and a miss can be caused by a lean mixture.
I put new plugs in it last nite and the miss is gone. I have not driven it yet to see if the miss comes back or something else happens. The engine wasn't making any weird noises or anything like metal on metal. When this 1st occurred there was not metal on metal noise. Just a loss of power and the miss.

Doesn't make sense only one cylinder. I would a least bring that cylinder to TDC measure the distance against the reach of your plug.

Something caused that plug gap to shut. I'd find out what it was.

See if someone has a bore scope you can borrow.. Or, hell.. get the cheap assed one from WalMart.com for $9.99 that plugs into a smart phone.. Something..

But I would definitely find out what happened. That's catastrophic failure sh*t right there.

do you have other pictures of ther plug, to me the side electode looks like it was gently bent over and not from being hit by a piston. The plugs sit on a angle to the piston so when they are hit the side electrode would have marks from the piston

The electrode was bent to the side and slightly twisted. I didn't notice any contact mark. The ceramic was intact so it couldn't have hit too hard.

I don't think it was hit by the piston and there doesn't seems to be any deposits on the ceramic in the picture that you posted so don't think that plug has ever fired.

How do you explain the car running fine, developing a miss under excelleration and the miss going away when the plug was replaced? The plug wires were all securely connected.

a miss can be caused by a lean mixture and if there was no makings on the plug then how could it have been hit by a piston?

and I I have to add that I am a lifelong pessimist so it really hurts not to agree with you that your engine is destroyed....😎

I'm going on a run shortly and I'm driving the Monte. If something is broken I will find out soon enough.
