My $0.02

That plug was dropped before install, it was probably firing under normal load and operating conditions

You noticed the miss after you really got on it and it was drowned in fuel and there was not enough spark energy to light that mixture.

I agree with the others, there was no contact with a piston.

BTW, I have a harbor freight inspection camera and it was worth every penny

The very first engine I rebuilt was a 283. I put domed pistons in it with 76cc heads which I ended up around 9.5:1. Car was running fine I decided I needed new plugs. Used AC Delco's, R45TS. Started it up, had a miss, kept checking found #8 electrode was touch the center. Regapped it, started, same thing pull it back out, same thing. Tried old plug, crushed it. Literally tried every old plug, several new ones, all got crushed yet the original was fine when I pulled it out. Had to get a Bosch plug that didn't go in as far. Ran it like that for years, had zero issues and no noises. Still no idea WTH happened.

I'm starting to think it was like that prior to install too. Scared the hell out of me though.

To me that plug doesn't look like ever fired, are you sure that plug wasn't ike that when you installed it?. I have seen plugs that got hit by a piston and there doesn't seem to be any contact marks on the plug you pulled. The loss of power and a miss can be caused by a lean mixture.
Adding this here instead of starting new thread. I thought I was having a similar problem to the one I had back in October. The car recently started running really rough when cold but smoothed out as it warmed up. However it started getting more prevalent so I figured it was running rich so I adjusted the choke to lean it a bit. There was no noticeable change. I pulled the #3 plug and it was jet black. I pulled the 1 and 2 plugs and they were also black. J got a set of Eco 3 plugs and new 8mm wires. Changed them out and , same thing, really rough but now was noticeably missing. I got a new distributer cap and rotor. Still no change. At this point I asked a friend what he thought it could be. He thought a lifter or valve. We took the top end off and sure enough the clip on lifter #4 had popped off. I order 2 lifters from Advance and new gaskets, header bolts, intake bolts and valve cover bolts. Everything else looked ok. Parts should be her 4/2. Question on my roller rockers. They are high quality, even though they are really old school (90's vintage) and show no real wear. However when the rollers are rolled by finger they seem to have a spot where they drag just slightly. Both the intake and exhaust have this hitch. Normal or not?

New ARP bolts showed up yesterday. No lifters or gaskets.

I always have paranoia about roller rockers failing. I've never had one fail, and you don't hear about it that often. I just worry, all those little needle bearings could do a ton of damage if one let loose.

I also worry about them reaching a fatigue life or something since they're made of aluminum, but pistons don't really just suddenly fail for no reason other than age, so again, it's probably just paranoia on my part for no good reason.

Are your rockers rebuildable? Does Crane, or Comp, or whoever made them sell a bearing kit or anything for them? If they do I'd replace them just for peace of mind.

Installed 2 new lifters, adjusted all the rest and set timing, adjusted the carb a little and went for a short drive. Car ran great. I'll get it out tomorrow for about a longer test run....and maybe a steak.
