What Did You Do To Your G-Body Today? [2020]

I had issues with the GP stalling pulling up to stop signs and red lights. If I took my foot of the gas and shifted into neutral the IAC would go down to 05 then go up allowing too much air and then stalling. Fast handheld has a screen for setting up the IAC and I had it in the green area so I could not figure out the issue. I called the Fast helpline and 2 seconds into the conversation the guy asked if I had a standard. I said yes, he said set the idle IAC at 05 to 10 and done use the screen. I tried set the IAC at 05 at idle today and the GP is alot more user friendly and doesn't stall...I am going to try is at different counts up to 10 but with this sytem you have to run a setting for a while for the system to learn it....when you put the paramaters in when your first set up the system they do not ask manual or automatic. There is no info in the instructions to set up a manual. They must get MSD to write their instructions....

and on the way back I stopped off at a Mennonite Mexican restaurant my son's wife told me about, they got real Mexican food there and the food is great, peppers are nice and warm... 🙂
Mexican Mennonites?

Mexican Mennonites?

¡Sí Señor! ....."In the last 50 years, Mennonites have been coming to Canada from Mexico. In the 1920s some of the more traditionalist Mennonites of the 1870s migration who settled in Manitoba moved to Mexico in order to live in traditional colonies where they could control their own civil affairs, including education of their children. Land scarcity has been an ongoing problem in Mexico, and families who choose to return to Canada generally do so for economic reasons. In Ontario their church is called the Old Colony Mennonite Church. "

I'm glad to hear you are making progress on the GP Steve. I can't help but be skeptical about Canadian Mennonite Mexican food.

The real issues with my setup are a few things:

1. Extension cord is mandatory. 12ga 3 conductor cord I made. About 15 foot long.

2. Only source of power is a 120v 30amp outlet the landlord used to use for his rv before we moved in.

3. Bad grounds as stated.

4. My welder only has 2 heat settings. 1 is apparently too cold according to Pontiac and 2 will blow through like its not even there. Ive been slowly figuring out how to use it and when I can and can't do something a certain way. I can lay a decent bead now on that sheet metal without blowing through, albeit 3/4" at most at a time.

It's a process. I cant run a generator constantly so that's out. Landlord wont allow 220v to the garage so thats out. I dont want to mess with gas so that's out.

If you get too much burn through on the high setting, try turning up your wire speed up. The wire helps cool the arc down. Then move it around in a slight zig zag pattern to help distribute the heat as you make your bead. This helps make a wider, flatter bead without burning through the base metal.

Soldered the wires back together in my AC dashboard that the previous owner cut when he installed aftermarket gauges, brushed them with "liquid tape", and put a small piece of electrical tape on each one as insurance, then slipped them back into the plug connector for the instrument cluster. Also, mixed up a little epoxy and strengthened the two mount points for the warning buzzer bracket on the back side of the dashboard.
I was getting ready to go outside to get the inside of the Caballero ready to install the dash, but it started raining, so I came in and went downstairs to the basement and started ordering more parts. I believe tomorrow is supposed to be a dry day, so I will make another attempt to get the dash installed.

The GP was running a little rough and the valve train was making a bit more noise than it should, even for a roller cam, so I checked the lash and I can't remember if the last time I did it by the old instructions which tells you a 1/4 turn for the preload instead of the revised which now says 1/2 to 3/4 turn. I had to put 1/4 to 1/2 turn on each valve to get a good preload. All the plugs were a nice color so I made sure they were each gapped at 50 and the GP runs noticeably smoother now...
