Got it ready for bed - put on a diaper and covered it with a blanket.

As a prelude to the actual work, I retrieved both the replacement outer rocker panel and the made to match new inner one that I had previously fabricated and laid them both on the portable saw horses for another trial fit. Here you can see the inner. At about 6 feet or longer it had to be made from two panels that were then seamed together. This was all hammer and dolly work using various pieces of square bar and flat bar to act as the shapes for the lip that had to be bent and folded along the one edge. At this point it is still covered with a coat of what I believe is POR 15; it's been more than a minute since this piece was made and it has sat off to one side for multiple years.

The small amount of remedial work that the inner rocker panel needed to make me happy used up most of what was left in the tank, so out of its rack it came and onto the wheeler it went. Some of you may remember "Wheelie", the custom designed and fabricated wheeler that I build several years back specifically for purposess such as moving C15 tanks. Its ribs have a deeper curve to them so that the tank sits further into the vertical cradle making it less likely to want to roll around. There are also multiple points to attach ratchet straps to firmly secure something like the tank into position. It also was fitted with large diameter wheels for easier movement over rough terrain. At this point the tank is in the box on my truck and waiting to go to the gas vendor for exchange.

Finally, just a cheap shot of what road salt and brine do to truck wheels up here. This rim is pending yard art. while the stud holes are still in good shape, the center hole that indexes over the axle flange has suffered serious rust decay to the point where it is only the studs and nuts that keep the wheel centered on the brake drum. I have two, new to me, replacement rims sitting in the truck box and the tires from the old rims will get transferred over and rebalanced something in the next couple of months.

Spent some time looking around online, came up disappointed with lots of 'red flags' on what I found.

Anyone know of a GOOD ready to drop in and go buick 350 around the east coast for a fair price?

BCR-ABL results came back from last week's test. Blood-borne levels are below 10% which counts as a treatment milestone. That means I can buy myself something,.so, what better than a new engine to awaken one of my spare 1983s from its 22 year slumber.

I'll be keeping a look out for something else to carch my eye, but, this seems a good start.

Zooming in I see a crack in the cylinder wall.

So, what's the new plan?
Still going back and forth on what to do, a buddy offered a brand new 350 he has that could get me to the classic but feel bad doing that. Looking at buying a 350 as part of a package my buddy is buying and then maybe do a 383 stroker
What foreign object did it ingest?
I don't think any, I think all the damage was from the spark plug checking out of the chat

Part of what scares me to death on doing an engine build lately is just how many crap engine parts are floating around, bad Chinese cores and blanks being used even by companies that are assembling/grinding in the US. The old garbage in, garbage out principle. And unless the old days, that junk isn't being recalled out of circulation. It's just an attitude of 'oh well...'

I want to get a new engine in 2 different cars right now, but don't trust anything I can find. One I want to go buick 6 to buick 8. The other is an old firebird that came with a Chevy 305, but the rings are worn so badly it's my mosquito killer. I don't know what to put in there. Either the used I can't hear run or I can but they don't want to allow a compression test before it's pulled, or, it's a core and I just don't trust the parts.
