Geez, I should have stayed home instead of working on the Cutlass. It was one of them days where nothing goes right, and simple tasks take too much time! No joke, it took 2 flippin hours to install the trunk lock because the retainer wouldn't pop onto the aftermarket lock as intended! Had to carefully grind away until it worked.
Then I got the seatbelt blockoff plates screwed on(only thing that was easy lol), and license plate bracket bolted on.

I'm still having trouble with drip rail trim on the passenger side. I test fit everything before paint, and now nothing seems to fit right !!!!!!
Also, I figured I would do a dry fit on the driver side weatherstrip...how hard could that be? Well, the Metro brand doesn't seem to wanna fit for sh*t, so I'm on hold there on whether to buy a different brand now!

Anyways, nothing really worthy of posting pics today unless requested, just pissed to eat up a vacation day and not make much progress!

Hang in there buddy. You have to enjoy the good car days and just get through the bad ones. There are going to be bad ones. Chin up! The good ones are coming! They are a lot easier to take apart than to put together. You're going to get there my friend and that will be a very special car.

I made a last minute decision to go burn some midnight oil and try to get some assembly done, and I'm so glad I did!!!! As previously mentioned I was having issues with drip rail trim. Anyways, the A pillar and drip rail trim decided to snap on with little effort, as well as the B pillar trim! I almost couldn't believe it, but the trim was on so I also installed the weatherstrip channel.

I think I still need to backcut some mor urethane from around the windshield clips and that trim should be ready to go.

That's it for now guys, hopefully I can get more done soon.

I'm not a religious guy, but when things are not going well it's seems like they are destined to go wrong. Walking away for a couple of hours or a day and coming back to it usually seems to resolve the issue - just as you described above. It's like someone was watching you and said, 'ok he's struggled enough - go together'. :):)

No matter how things go, take your time and enjoy. Man does your paint job and body work look great. The only thing that would better is a shot of you going down the road ahead of a roasty smokey :):)

Jim, you nailed it! My dad always taught me to stop and walk away when things aren't working right while wrenching. Heck, he's been a diesel tech for 45+ years now!

I always hear that wisdom in my head, and it has saved me from throwing or breaking stuff many times!!! Little by little it will come together. Thanks for the compliments also, I'm looking forward to the day when I can leave some tire smoke!
