Lol, nothing about that brother! Ive had a vision in my head for a lonnnnnng time on how i want my cutlass to look when complete, and i have this obsession with myself to put out something that most people here in Louisville would never take the time to do....in regards to a G that is. I know i will still get some dirty looks, but in the end I'm building this car for me and my family to enjoy and that's what matters.
I'm just glad to be a member here, and able to share my story, build process, etc with like minded gearheads.
Thanks for the ball bustin lol, need it from time to time!😉

Here is another one of those subtle mods i forgot to post a few weeks back. I had mentioned i went to a regal/GN style hood strut setup, however the strut mount was separate from the actual hinge. Mock up was done a few years back and we welded the strut mount to the hinge to work with the shorter struts.
I don't have any good before pics, but the buick guys will see the difference i believe. After welding and grinding the hood hinge/strut assembly now looks like one piece instead of 2...joined together. Normal por15 prep process done, and sprayed with a couple coats to finish them off.

No ball busting intended lol! Just couldn't resist...
I just went back and read through your whole thread and I find it funny how exciting it gets. Like we all sense your excitement and I know I can't wait to see it painted out either. I'm also a lover of that tone in metallic so I'm looking forward, wheels too! I want to see those wheels on.....

No worries....i was laughing when i read your comment....i can dish it as much as take it lol! I appreciate the comments, and i wish i woulda joined up here sooner so my build thread didn't start 2-1/2 to 3 years into the resto.
Ditto on the wheels....i can't wait to see them mounted up either! However, before any rubber gets ordered i will test fit the rears since they might be close and need a spacer....as well as see how the black on the wheels match it up with the paint and trim. I really don't wanna sand the black inset parts, but if it's not appealing to my eye then it will have to be done!

Thanks for the update and pics of the modified hood hinges Scott. I've been waiting and hoping you'd post that particular update for a while now.

I hope you don't mind, but I'm going to do something similar (with my own twist on it of course) to incorporate the struts into the hinges as well.
IMO, that's the way they should've come stock, rather than those goofy coiled spring things they had.

Now, I just have to determine my hood weight, strut length, and a couple other things to see if I can get a set of struts in the lb rating I'll need.

Any chance the next time you're at your car you could measure the extended and compressed length of your struts for me? Even just the extended length would work.
That would certainly help me narrow down a few of the variables for my application. If not, no worries, I'll figure it out another way!

TIA,
Donovan
